Death Calls Young Child

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Seals was darkened with sadness Tuesday, when at 7:00 o'clocl P.M. the angel of death called and took away their little darling son, John William.

He was born November 17, 1921 and was two years, five months and nineteen days old. Although so young he was of an affectionate, loving disposition and occupied a great place in the home and the hearts of his parents, brother and sisters.

Hi is mourned by his parents, one brother, three sisters, two grandmothers and one grandfather besides many other relavites and friends.

Saturday morning John was playing about, apparently well and happy. About noon he became sick with congestion of the stomach and pneumonia and grew worse in spite of all care, until death ended his sufferings.

Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, conducted byRev. Willett of Pence. Two uncles, Earl and Charles Rudy were pall bearers. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Warner, Miss Byrnes, Mr. B. E. Morgan and Mrs. George Merritt. Burial was in the Rossville cemetery.

"Darling John has left us
Left us, yes, forevermore.
But we hope to meet our loved one,
On that bright and happy shore."

As one looked upon the remains of this child as it lay in its last bed surrounded by flowers, sent by sympathetic friends, it seemed as if he were a flower himself, as sweet and pure, as the blossoms which shed their fragrance about him.

May the sad hearts of his parents be comforted by the thought that he has gone to a better place than this world where there will be no suffering, no sorrow, no pains or tars, there bloom like a flower in God's garden, and await their coming to join him in that better land.3

Traffic on Interstate 55/74 west of Bloomington was delayed when an accident about 5 p.m. Monday shut down both lanes in a construction zone. A car driven by Lamont Taylor, 26, St. Louis, was southbound in the passing lane and an SUV driven by Thomas Welker, 51, of Yates City, was southbound in the driving lane where the construction zone veers to the left. State police said Taylor did not negotiate the slight curve veering into the driving lane, hitting Welker's vehicle, which landed on the shoulder.Taylor's car hit a construction barrier and rolled, landing on its roof. Welker was not injured, but a passenger, Maxine Welker , 46, Yates City, was treated and released, along with Taylor and Taylor's passenger, Eric Stuckey, 22, St. Louis.
