Note:     Valentin Puig was named, Valentí Manuel Esteve Puig Capella. He was born on March 17, 1837 in Vilanova De La Roca, Spain. He was the son of Joseph Sabastia Esteve Puig Lloberas. ( in Spain the mother's maiden name goes last)and Lluisa Capella. He was the other brother of Juan Puig of San Diego, Texas. Both Juan and Valentin lived in Brownsville until the late 1870's. Valentin and his wife Hortense moved to San Diego, Texas and from there they later moved to Laredo, Texas.2 He was the son of Joseph Sabastia Esteve Puig and Luisa Capella.2 Valenti Manuel Esteve Puig married Hortensia (?).1 Valenti Manuel Esteve Puig appeared on the census of 7 June 1880 at San Diego, Duval, Texas.1

Note:     Francisco Puig was the younger brother of Juan and Valentin Puig of Vilanova de la Roca, Spain. Francisco full name was, Francisco Luis Esteve Puig Capella. He was born on Dec 4, 1845 in Spain. Moved to New Orleans with his brothers in 1857. During the American Civil War they all joined a City Confederate militia and served until the city of New Orleans fell in 1862. The Puig moved to Matamoros , Mexico and stay there until 1867. They later moved into Brownsville, Texas in 1867. Francisco lived in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1870 and had a retail business with another Spaniard named, Joaquin Villegas. After 1880, Francisco Puig moved into Mexico. His where abouts or what happened to Francisco after 1880 is unknown.2 He was the son of Joseph Sabastia Esteve Puig.1
